CCC: Chicago Cronut Craze
With the cronut craze currently sweeping the nation, Chicago has jumped on the band wagon to try and mimic the hybrid pastry New York made so famous. With never ending lines and outrageously high prices, cronut's seem to be controlling the people. Just recently, Alliance Bakery announced they were going to sell cronuts Friday through Sunday at a limit of 2 per person at $5 a pop. You would think whoever would pay $5 a piece would be out of their minds, but as a pastry fanatic and a lover of all things sweet, I had to indulge in the craze of the cronuts. The ones from Alliance Bakery were quite good, although not as soft as one would think a doughnut/croissant hybrid would be. Delicious enough for maybe $2.50, but when you put a price tag of $5 on a breakfast pastry it better be super stellar!
