Lunch at San Pedro Market

This was officially my first meal in Cusco City and it was also one of the most memorable. Eating like true locals, my mom and I dined on the small wooden benches right up at the table and I ordered a typical peruvian dish and the name of it is currently escaping me. It consists of chicken broth, falling-off- -the-bone-tender chicken, carrots and green onions, 3 different types of potato, noodles, and yuca. This dish is cheap (2 soles), and very authentic and true to the Peruvian culture. The atmosphere you get when dining at the San Pedro Market is truly a one-of-a-kind dining experience where you feel you are consuming more culture than food, and as though you are the star of your very own No Reservations TV Show. While dining and digging through my deliciously hot soup, I got to talk with the chef and get to know her story, and tell her mine. I went later on in the week and stopped back to say hello to her, she greeted me with kisses and hugs as if we had been friends forever. It was truly an food experience I will forever treasure.
