Last Saturday the Kendall College parking lot was home to the Chicago Food Social, where an abundance of Chicago restaurants and food trucks set up shop from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Chicago staples like Big Star were there and also not-so-known gems such as Sausy Porka (400 Financial Pl), as well as food trucks like Beavers Coffee and Donuts, The Wagyu Wagon, Lunchbox, and the Tamale Spaceship to name just a few.

We got there hungry and stayed for a solid three hours, trying to expand our stomachs as much as possible while getting a feel for all the fare being offered. The best part about this was that all the food trucks we've ever wanted to try were all there, in the same spot, offering up some of their best dishes. It was foolish not to leave full and we were fulfilling our mission trying anything we thought sounded good, which was close to almost everything!

The Wagyu Wagon was definitely my favorite as their wagyu sliders were cooked to perfection all with with interesting accouterments. Beavers Coffee & Donuts was out of this world, where as I found the bread with my Thai sloppy joe from Lunchbox was a bit bland and dry. The whole thing, after 3 deliciously spent hours, just left me thinking why doesn't Chicago do this more often? Rahm..?
