Longman & Eagle: Chicago Inspired Hanger Steak
Longman & Eagle, one of my all-time Chicago favorites and Michelin Star clad restaurant never ceases to amaze me and never ever disappoints. When one of my girlfriends was in Chicago from New York for one night only and requested to go to a "Cool, hip but not too expensive," restaurant, obviously Longman & Eagle was first to come to mind. And what more perfect dish to present to a loyal New Yorker with than a Hanger Steak drawn with inspiration from the classic Chicago Hot Dog.
A pan roasted hanger steak with hot dog bun puree, housemade pickles, mustard tuile, pickled sishito peppers and confit heirloom tomatoes is the what I would assume would be a Kings Chicago hot dog, or one on steroids for sure. Either way, be a local or visitor, once you try a bite you will be sure to have fallen in love with the Windy City, just in case you haven't already.
