Friday October 1st, I volunteered to help my good friend Dawn at the Anti Cruelty Society Benefit held in the Fender Ballroom at The HardRock Hotel. The evening was such a great success and included live and silent auctions, puppies and kittens on site for guests to play with and adopt, live music, and most importantly GOURMET FOOD! Some of Chicago's top restaurants volunteered for the noble cause, and set up their own personal cooking stations and cooked and dispersed hors d' oeuvres amongst the guests. Some of the food included: Duck Croquettes, Cajun Shrimp Cocktail, Foie Gras Baguette Sandwich, Filet Mignon Sliders, and a wide variety of Crab Cakes. To top it all off there were also dessert restaurants such as: Black Dog Gelato handing out Vanilla Malt Gelato, Paisano's making and handing out cannoli's, and Baking for the Taking Bakery that offered a wide array of cupcakes. Some guest chefs included: Jimmy Bannos from Heaven on Seven, Radhika Desai from English and former TopChef contestant, and blind chef from Charlie Trotter's Laura Martinez. Some of the other restaurants that provided food for the event were: Sunda, Catch 35, Province, Prosecco, Carmine's and Salon Steakhouse to name a few.
